John Fairhurst

“He’s possibly the finest guitarist you’ll ever see – and even better than that, he’s able to couple those skills with brilliant songwriting and a gravel-swilled belter of a voice. Search him out and prepare to be stunned."

BBC INTRODUCING

About John Fairhurst
As a young child, John met Indian Sarod master K. Sridhar, and was inspired by his musical fluency, intensity, dedication and exciting links with musicians from other cultures. This was the start of John's musical journey. He was taught to play slide blues guitar by his father, and developed his own folk finger-picking style. His early inspirations then led him to travel to South Asia and beyond, playing slide guitar in Bangkok blues bars and discovering new music at every turn, leading John to commit himself to a life of music reflecting different genres, moods and personalities, woven together in live performances by John's outrageous natural talent and dedication to his art.

Years after that first meeting, John sent K Sridhar a copy of his album. Sridhar invited John to meet him again and their discussions on the nature of being a musician and on the world in general has resulted in Sridhar inviting John to study with him to develop his skills even further.

John is one of the hardest working musicians on the current UK acoustic/blues scene, having clocked up more than 200 shows in 2008, including festivals in Spain, Edinburgh, Glastonbury, Great Escape, Venn and End of the Road, astounding audiences at every turn with his incredible playing. His debut album, Joys of Spring, received rapturous reviews on its release in March 2008, and John has toured relentlessly
