Shared houses, shared lives:
exploring the trials and tribulations of living within shared houses

Do you live in a shared house in Chorlton?

Are you aged between 21 and 35?

Would you like to take part in a new and exciting research project that is looking at what life is really like living within a shared house?

The research aims to investigate the trials and tribulations of living within shared houses and is interested in finding out what it is like to live in a shared house, and how it might differ (in both positive and negative ways) from other kinds of living arrangements, such as living as a couple, or living on your own.

In light of TV programmes such as This Life or Friends, living within a shared house is seen as as a positive or hedonistic experience, but current social research doesn't know what it is really like to share your house and live with other people that could be either friends or random people that you happen to live with.

I am looking for residents of shared houses within Chorlton to tell their stories of life within shared houses - how you use the space, how things are shared, why you chose to live within a shared house.

Taking part will involve an interview lasting up to 45 minutes It won't take up a great deal of your time, interviews will be organised at a time to suit you.

The research forms part of my doctoral research at The University of Manchester.

More information on the research can be found here on the Participant Information Sheet (PDF 60KB).
