These ongoing popular workshops for adults, run from our lovely studio in Chorlton, South Manchester, are a great opportunity to dip
into a variety of creative techniques and materials in a fun, encouraging small
group atmosphere. Our workshops attract people of all ages and professions.
All
materials are provided and no previous experience is necessary - honestly!!!
Were you ever told as a child that you were no good at art?
We would love to spend the day with you and dispel that myth!

Creative workshop diary: Autumn 2011 – Summer 2012
Sunday 9th October, 11am - 4pm, £60/£55
IMAGE TRANSFER (imagine a poem on glass, a
photograph on a wooden box....)
On this workshop you will have the opportunity to transfer
your favourite photographs, original artwork, textiles, poetry - in fact,
anything that will go under a scanner - onto wood, glass, metal, canvas and
ceramic tiles with permanent, stunning results.
A creative day with an
introduction to digital experimentation using a computer, scanner and
specialist print papers. Full support - no technical or computer knowledge

Sunday 6th November, 1pm - 5pm, £45/£40
FANTASTIC FELT
Felt is the oldest textile known to man and is very popular
today. Enjoy learning how to felt with rich coloured wools and have fun
exploring colour and composition. You’ll make stunning abstract pieces to frame
and will discover that felting can be more than flat, so you could make a purse or bowl for example. This promises to be an active afternoon with great results!

DECOUPAGE (collaging images onto something,
usually wooden!)
Tun a plain old trinket box, journal cover, coffee table
etc into a personal and unique visual object! What would you collage with? Wine labels, stamps, old family letters ? Anything you like – images of ladybirds to bikes to beaches! Bring your own collection of stuff or dive into all the resources and inspiration here in the studio. Explore text, colour and composition as you create your own masterpiece!

EXPLORING DRAWING
The foundation of all drawing is to experiment with ways of creating patterns, textures and surfaces on paper …this is known as mark making. Enjoy discovering the myriad of ways to make marks, and you’ll learn that drawing can be fulfilling and fun, with our light hearted ‘drawing games’.

LIVE LIFE MORE CREATIVELY?
Come and discover how to feel relaxed, inspired, and energised by your own creativity. Experiment and reflect with a series of group and individual art-based games and tasks, using our studio space and all the wonderful materials in it. This will be an enriching and experiential day, perfect for those who want to inspire themselves or others, at home or in the workplace.

CREATING COLLAGE
The art of collage is a fast, immediate process, fun with
often beautiful, abstract, and tactile results. Frame your unique work or make one-off handmade cards. Our studio is packed full of materials for you to experiment with.....hand made papers, magazines, sweet wrappers, beads, buttons, egg shells, fabric, yarns and plenty
more! Get ripping and sticking!
CHORLTON ARTS FESTIVAL, MAY 2012
CAF gets bigger and more exciting every year. Christine is a key member on the CAF team and has been project managing the Visual Arts for the past 3 years now, and loves it ! SNAP HAPPY!
Come and spend the day in good company with your digital camera. Be inspired to look at the world around you with fresh eyes and capture new perspectives. We’ll walk locally around Chorlton, snapping away and enjoy a
sociable cafe lunch whilst our pics get processed. Back in the studio, we’ll let these images inspire further creative work by experimenting with collage and mark making. A basic knowledge of your digital camera is all you need for this great day!

PRINT - PRINT - PRINT (then frame it! )
Immensely satisfying and immediately rewarding. This popular workshop offers stunning results. Experiment with monoprinting and relief printing techniques to produce framed prints and original cards. battyandgorgeous is a creative
arts company based in Chorlton, South Manchester,
set up by Christine Evans and Diane Pagan. Alongside our public programme of
workshops, we also deliver participatory creative group workshops in a variety
of settings, including schools, hospitals, galleries, training courses and the
workplace - these workshops are tailormade to each group’s specific needs -
from exploring emotional intelligence to a task-focussed team building
exercise.
In essence, we facilitate the freedom to play and discover
the inner artist in all of us. We enjoy encouraging artistic expression in
